Short bio

Chiara Francalanci is professor of information systems at Politecnico di Milano. She has a Master's Degree in Electronic Engineering and a Doctorate in Information Engineering both from Politecnico di Milano. As part of her post doctoral studies, she worked for two years at the Harvard Business School as a Visiting Researcher where she graduated in Management of the Information Systems Resource. She has over 15 years of experience in applied research and consulting. She has published on top international outlets on IT management and cost-oriented IT design, has led several national and international research projects, and has broad consulting experience.

Research

Her research focuses on IT management and cost-oriented IT design. The distinguishing feature of her reasearch is the ability to solve problems by combining IT design and management competences. Her research results demonstrate the managerial impact of IT costs for a variety of design issues. The breadth of her publication outlets prove the strength of her interdisciplinary approach in multiple research areas. Her recent research focuses on green ICT and data quality applied to Web-based sentiment analysis. In both cases, IT costs represent the primary research variable.

Consulting

Most of her consulting projects are on IT costs with a top management approach. Her main contribution is to face critical and challenging innovation issues with direct technical competences, original ideas, and a managerial view. Consulting allows her to transfer to business the results of her research and represents the main source of her research funding.
