Manuela Ferrario

I'm currently assistant professor at Politecnico di Milano (RTDb, tenure track). I teach the courses of Fundamentals of Biomedical Signals and Elements of Medical Informatics (B.Sc in Biomedical engineering).
I received my PhD degree in Bioengineering (2007) at Politecnico di Milano. My post-doc fellowship, supported by Fresenius Medical Care, GmbH, was focused on the analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) and biological cardiovascular signals in haemodialysis patients. I collaborated with the Renal Research Institute, New York City, USA and with the Hospital San Bortolo, Vicenza. I collaborated with Universita' Tor Vergata, Roma, on methods to identify perioperative cardiovascular and hemodynamic risk in patients under anesthesia and to monitor cardiovascular hemodynamics invasively/noninvasively during surgical intervention (project funded by grant FIRB 2010-2013).
I was involved in a research which focuses on affective computing in collaboration with San Raffaele Hospital and Universita' degli Studi di Milano ( project funded by grant FIRB 2013-2016). I have been leader of the activities relating hemodynamic monitoring (WP#7) and  member of the scientific committee of the EU project Shockomics: "multiscale approach to the identification of molecular biomarkers in acute heart failure induced by shock" (2013-2017).
My research interests include mathematical modeling of physiological systems, model identification with applications to cardiovascular system, signal processing, non linear analysis, variability analysis of cardiovascular signals, data mining and prediction models, analysis of metabolomics data.
I'm member of the international review board of Physiological Measurement and  of the editorial board of Scientific Reports
