Febbraio – Maggio 1997: University of Twente, Enschede, Olanda (Prof. H. Nijmeijer).Tema di ricerca: progetto di controllori non-lineari a tempo discreto, progettati con tecniche del tipo "a modello di riferimento".

Gennaio – Marzo 1999: Australia National University, Canberra, Australia (Prof. R. Bitmead). Temi di ricerca: modellistica e controllo di essiccatori di zucchero, a tamburo rotante; modellistica di motori a turbina a combustione magra; stima della frequenza di segnali armonici in rumore, attraverso l’uso del filtro di Kalman esteso.
