Short bio

I was born in 1989 in Casale Monferrato (AL). I got the Bachelor Degree and the Master Degree in Engineering of Computing Systems in Como (Sound and Music Engineering track). My thesis project concerned the development of an ontology for violin timbre description and the analysis of violin timbre. My supervisors were Professor Augusto Sarti and Dr. Massimiliano Zanoni, both from the ISPG group at DEIB. Now I am a PhD student and I work in the Laboratorio di Acustica Musicale that Politecnico opened in Cremona, where a multidisciplinary analysis on bowed instruments is conducted.

My interests include music (I play drums), musical instruments, electronics and cinema.

Current research

Currently I am working in the context of Music Information Retrieval, and in particular in violin timbre analysis. Thanks to the collaboration with the Museo del Violino and the Università degli studi di Pavia we are performing different analyses on modern and ancient violins. An ontology is being developed in order to formalize the knowledge that we are acquiring with our studies.
